Muhammad Ali - then Cassius Clay ventured across the pond to take on Britain's Henry Cooper at Wembley stadium in a final eliminator for the world heavyweight title in 1963. Cooper was given scant chance against the sharp shooting young American, who regarded Cooper as a routine assignment, proclaiming Cooper was 'a bum' in the pre-fight build up. A combination of a dismissive Clay and privately confident Cooper conspired to become one of most memorable and controversial fights in British boxing history. Clay would win but not before enduring one of the most dramatic moments of his career, felled in the 4th round by a trademark Cooper left hook. Clay would be saved by the bell and the mercurial talents of his trainer Angelo Dundee, a sequence of events that would keep the boxing cognoscenti talking for years to come. Clay would become champion of the world in his very next fight, dethroning the seemingly unbeatable Sonny Liston.
